The Dead Reserves follows the global adventures of the members of the Post Live Adjustments agency. A team of talented people, all of whom can channel the dead to aid them in the various cases they’re working, by using totemic artifacts connected to the deceased.

Emma Campbell was raised solely by her mum from she was an infant when her dad left them just after she was born. She wasn’t popular at school. She was a sickly youth and life was hard. It was about to get harder.

When Emma turned fourteen she was suddenly and near fatally diagnosed with acute liver failure. Close to death Emma experienced her first viewing of the afterlife in the hospital surrounding her. She put the ghosts she’d witnessed down to delirium until her life was saved by a last minute transplant from a last minute donor.

Lucky for Emma she awoke with a fully functioning liver. Not so lucky, she was permanently bonded to the spirit of its previous owner; Phil ‘The Haggis’ Hogarth. No ordinary Joe, Phil was once Scotland’s greatest ever wrestler. But in his old age he’d become senile and reclusive.

Rejuvenated in the afterlife by his totemic bonding with Emma (via a shared liver,) Phil has in death, learned how to live again, and Emma has got a new chance at life.

Emma lost her father and Phil grew old never having a family, yet despite their bickering Phil is the dad Emma never had. Emma is the daughter Phil never had.

Embracing their odd situation as freelancers for the PLA, together they are the unstoppable duo of Haggis and the Hen!
